Dr. Moore is ACSA Region 5’s Superintendent of the Year

The Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) has named South San Francisco Unified School District (SSFUSD) Superintendent Dr. Shawnterra Moore as region 5’s Superintendent of the Year.

“Dr. Moore is a dynamic leader who shares student data and compares that to the goals the district has established,” said ACSA Region 5 President Diego Ochoa. “She consistently communicates her expectations of coherence, alignment, and relationships in all her work. She is highly deserving of this honor.”

ACSA’s administrator awards recognize outstanding leadership and dedication to education in California.

This year, 10 administrators and principals in San Mateo County including Dr. Moore were singled out.

“I’m honored to be receiving this award on behalf of ACSA Region 5,” said Dr. Moore. “I don't work alone or in isolation, and I am deeply grateful to our staff, students, and community. I am immensely proud of how we have collaborated to ensure that our students are learning and experiencing continuous growth and improvement. After all, it's not about perfection, it's about progress.”

As superintendent since 2015, Dr. Moore has worked to create more positive, equitable
student outcomes in SSFUSD by fostering a commitment to student-centered, educational quality and achievement.

According to Dr. Moore, this has been accomplished through strong collaborative partnerships and a deeply held belief in the staff and students.

“Data is used to guide curricular and instructional practices, and special efforts and systems have been designed to support and improve our initiative to ensure educational equity for all students,” she said.

ACSA Region 5 is comprised of 25 public school districts and more than 300 schools in San Francisco and San Mateo Counties.
